Firstly a little bit about me and how I got into snooker!

I discovered the game in unfortunate circumstances, by this I mean when I was 9 I was very much into football, and even back then I knew that was what I wanted to do.
But it was not meant to be as I started to get pains in my leg which were first dismissed as growing pains, these lasted to long for my parents to believe true. So off we went to seek medical advice and after numerous X-rays etc I was diagnosed with perthes disease, a rare disease which rots the hip bone in young boys.

To read more about perthes please click here. Of course my family thought this was terrible news and sought after advice. Although treatable it would result in many operations to finally correct my hip. So what would I do now as sport was my life and was told any sporting activity would do further damage let alone leave me in pain........

Well the solution was simple my dad sick of seeing me bored took me to our local club where as in most clubs had snooker tables and that was it. After picking up a cue I knew what I wanted to do and that was play snooker. So a great deal of thanks goes to my family, all the doctors and nurses who helped me, my sponsor instarmac, John my first coach and everyone who helped me through my journey to the present.

Funny how things work out really! As I can now claim many tournament victories, a 147 break,a regular place in the England team, many century breaks and my finest hour WINNER OF JUNIOR POT BLACK.
