2007-8 Pontin's International Open Series @ Pontin's Event Eight - 14-18 April 2008
It was the last of the 8 event P.I.O.S for which the top 8 qualify for the main tour and this was my first season on, so I did not know what to expect really except everyone would be up for it and all of a very high standard.

I had faired well in the previous 7 events and was perhaps a little highr in the rankings than I thought I would be but, but as mathematically I could not qualify during this final event I went out to just go as far as I could.

The first round was between me and Michael Georgiou a match best of 7 frames which I won 4 frames to 1 with no notable breaks.

In round two I drew Robert Stephen again the best of 7 and this time a little closer at 4 frames to 3 in my favour plus a 67 break.

Another close one in round three I beat Gavin Lomax 4 - 3. The highest break of this round came via Stuart Carrington with a 107.

I had reached the last 16 and was feeling good a final place was now in sight but Stephen Rowlings took me to another 4 - 3 in my favour this time I had a 76, 72, and a 56.

Now in the quater finals (my highest finish so far) I faced Daniel Ward the matches were now best of nine but I just edged it at 5 frames to 4 with a break of 80 for my troubles.

I was more than happy with my performance and would have happily gone out in the quaters but as it was I made the semis so I intended to make the most of it I thought it was all going my way as I went 3 - 1 up but Justin Astley proved what a good player he is by coming back to win 5 - 3. Well done to Justin.

I finished the P.I.O.S on 320 points and in joint 26th a great first season and I hope to improve on this next year.
